    Firefox is being targeted increasingly by virus/malware writers AND has had several Security vulneralbilities brought forth into the light recently, requiring patches...Nothing against Firefox in general, just that do not expect it to be a panacea of browsers and immune, because it isn't.........IE, in my opinion, while it doews have drawbacks, is just as safe IF you know how to protect it...

    Acutally there was only two reports of spyware being made for Fx, neither surfaced enough. All security vul, has been fixed in 4. Least Mozilla patches their software. :roll:

    more than 2 and though they issue patches.

    .the point is do not be misled into thinking Firefox is invulnerable or "SAFE", it isn't, and like i said, more and more vulnerabilities will be found and exploited by those that do such things as the browser becomes increasingly popular...it isn't the browser that is important to malware writers, it is simply the amount of users of the browser which determines which holes will be exploited

    More then two, but like I said least they fix them. But there was two major ones, one being a JS problem that IE still has. It is safer then IE, and is the safest as you can be online. The fact is that they are being found, and fixed before people exploit them. So far the tech-savory people use Fx, which hackers do not want so they target you, an IE user, which most of IE userbase is people who only want to surf the Internet and do just that. How many people use it to find exploits is only to a certain level. Let's compare Windows and Linux.

    Windows = IE
    Linux = Fx
    ________________

    Windows = Most people; not tech-savoy
    Linux = A few ; tech savvy

    Windows = Closed-Source
    Linux = Open-Sourced

    Windows = Updates not frequent
    Linux = Updates immeditaltly when exploit is found and applied.

    The fact is that as soon as an exploit is found in Fx, it is fixed ASAP, before it is exploited. The fact is that you do not hear about Fx users being exploited, IE users yes. As long as everyone keeps using IE, they can careless about Fx.

    So far the tech-savory people use Fx,...

    Most of the people I know in the Tech fiels still use IE, they just keep it patched and use smart surfing and other tools....

    I already said in my previous post that FX issues patches...The point I'm trying to make is to not be fooled into thinking you are immune to vulnerabilities just because you use Firefox...You aren't.....just because there aren't as many exploits for Firefox as IE at present, doesn't mean there won't be...ANY code haS THE POTENTIAL to be exploited....

    I cleaned an infected computer last week that the user only uses Firefox and the malware bypassed the the browser and crashed the drive Tyler.

    I do all the time, but 95% of the time they download something and it is not Fx's fault.

    They didn't download anything...it was a drive-by install just like what happens in IE....
    I'm not trying to argue Tyler, just trying to explode the myth that people believe Firefox protects them from everything...it doesn't.
