I found it slow at first as well Viktoria, in fact i went back to Opera for a while. Then i went to the Mozillazine's forums and spent a couple of hours reading and tweaking Firefox. Now it's the fastest browser i've ever used! .

Here's something to get you started

A very carefull warning about that tweak everyone. That tweak makes more requests from the website you are viewing. So it causes the server to go more response (making it faster), but this tweak AKA is
    "Server Rape"

It kills the server, not counting the owner of the website you visit often. It hurts their bandwidth serverly. Some sites will completely ban you if they find you are doing this to thier server!

If I made my browser detectable, it would through IE over the top!
