Shareware

I hate when you download a program that says it has a free trial, but to use it's features or make the changes it offers you have to register. What good is that? I didnt get to see if I liked it....I like to see what all it does and how it effects the system before I buy anything. Once I would get mad and hop on a p2p program and download a full or cracked version. then if i liked the program buy it. Past few years as software vendors are dieing because of piracy I try to support them by buying anything I need, but still I wont buy one I didnt get to try fully. Also now the p2p programs are complete trash...viruses,trojans and exploits abound.I downloaded a file about 2 years ago that not only had what I wanted to download it had child porn in a hidden folder. I have not used a P2P since.
I have not had my own FTP in years because I only have dialup in my area and no one wants to download from me...or upload for that matter. It's funny because at one time before high speed I was fast, I had a 56k as soon as it hit the market and was considered very fast. Back then a large file was about a meg. now people transfer 1 gig files in the time it takes my home dial up connection to download 25 megs.
You can tell I am getting old, most of my post sound like history lessons,...lol

If we don't know our history, what chance will the future have?. We need to know about these things so we don't make the same mistakes!.
I installed a 'free' defragmenter. A month later it was asking for my credit card details!.....What's all that about?.

Not to mention the freeware you can install but first you have to give your credit card details.

You go to some parts of the UK/world and you know you have to be wary of other people. I think the internet is just the same!.

They should mention the terms of the "free trial" at the download site....It annoys me to download a "free trial" and then it ask for a credit card...I sign thier support email up for every spam I can find when I download one of those...I know they have spam filters...but still it lags them hehehe

I know what you mean! I have dial up and I can spend an hour or more downloading it and get 1 to 5 uses out of it of 10 minutes trial time on it. That isn't long enough to even figure out what's even going on! It makes me so mad that I spent all that time downloading it for nothing! I don't download much shareware anymore. There are a few good shareware programs that I like, but they are few and far in between!
