amazon causes IE to shut down

When I try to navigate amazon, i always get an error message that causes IE to shut down. Any way to fix this? I'm on a new computer.

When this happens on only one site, and you can access other sites just fine, it is best to provide a link to the affected site so we can make sure it is not the site.

I recommend you purge your system of clutter using Windows [XP / Vista] Disk Cleanup, ATF Cleaner or CCleaner. If you use CCleaner, then during installation, uncheck the option to install the Yahoo toolbar and before first use, go to Options > Settings > Advanced and ensure Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours is unchecked.

Note: Ensure you know your site credentials (user names and passwords) for sites you frequent before cleaning; you may have to login again at next visit.

Then download, install, update, and run Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware (MBAM) to ensure your system is free of malware. Then do the same for all other computers on your network (everything on your side of the Internet gateway, typically a cable/DSL modem).

Then make your Internet Explorer more secure by following these simple instructions:

From within Internet Explorer click on Tools > Options then click on the Security tab. Click on the Internet icon to highlight, then the Custom Level button. Ensure the following options are set as indicated:
    • Download signed ActiveX controls - Prompt
    • Download unsigned ActiveX controls - Disable
    • Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting - Disable
    • Installation of desktop items - Prompt
    • Launching programs and files in an IFRAME - Prompt
    • Navigate sub-frames across different domains - Prompt
Once done, click the OK button.

If prompted to save settings, press Yes.

    Now try the amazon link.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
None of that seemed to do the trick. I started using Google Chrome instead of IE. Thanks.
