I live in Calif but for some reason my IP address show me as being in Canada any idea what might be going on to cause this or any suggestions on how to fix this other then just formatting the computer.

My Internet provider is Verizon Fios and according to them the problem is with one of my Windows setting but as the guy said Verizon is not realty into fixing computers there just an ISP. I do allot of online surveys and in order to get paid for them you have to qualify for it fist and that includes being in the right location which is mostly in the USA and I always get disqualified because I am as they say out side of the USA. Just last week I bought some stuff online and they ran into a problem as soon as they got my Papal payment as the IP was saying that I was in Canada and my shipping address was as I listed as in the USA and they had a problem with this took me three day on and off the phone with then to finally proves to them that I was the payee and the I was in the USA not Canada I even had to fax the my ID to prove it. I tolked to one tech service that was basicle no help as they wanted $$$ big to help but he did say that its called a mask when this happens if that helps he at all a to answer your othe question no the internet works just fine speed and all.

As a Moderator here I can query your IP address and it comes up as a "pool".

If I query the pool it offers Rogers Communications (Canada).

Perhaps Verizon uses their lines out west?

It sounds like you are using a proxy service. Check Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings - is proxy server setup?
