STILL break down & cry freezing!!!

Hello again. After some great advice in the recent past , thanks to dobhar, jephree and digerati, my computer is much faster(fantastic) than ever before. However, I still have this nauseating problem when my broadband starts to freeze up on me. It is not a permanent feature and possibly becomes worse the longer that the computer has been on, but I'm not 100% sure about that. It seems to be at its worst when using my AOL browser and search engine as opposed to seldom happening on Internet explorer and using yahoo/comodo/ask/crawler/windows live search engines. You may say, why not use those searches but I'm used to AOL and actually prefer it!! Could it be a bad phone line or something I could have deleted, programme wise, or spyware that is not showing up on Spybot or not being cleaned by CC or Comodo. Can anyone help, before once again, the straight jacket comes out of its mothballs. Thank you.

AOL gives lots of people problems but I found this blog about it. If you wish to do this according to our TOS we take no responsibility for any outcome. I'm telling you this because I don't know if this will work. However what I do know is that you cannot go and just rename the AOL folder. If you do you will break AOL. To follow this guy's advices you will have to completely uninstall and reinstall AOL. DO NOT just rename the folder. Let me put it this way, when it comes to windows the only folders you can rename are the ones that you created. If you cannot run AOL after following this guy's advice then you will have to uninstall AOL and reinstall it. I hope this helps.

Hi, thank you for the quick response. A bit of a daunting task for a painter and decorator I'm afraid. I've decided after 6 years that I will get a new broadband provider and see if it cures the problem. I'm not sure how long this takes but I will return. While your listening(reading) perhaps you can advise on another possible problem. I am running an extension of over 12 metres (with a mid connector) from my incoming phone box to my computer. To have another phone box put in is an expensive luxury. I also have a long distance from my house to the phone exchange, not a great idea either. Do you think this may cause a few problems??? Thanks again
