Angry I Can Not Download Anything!!! PLEASE HELP!!!

I am running a Windows Vista Home premium. I usually use Firefox as my main web browser. I have the download helper app added to Firefox. A few days ago I went to download a video from You Tube using my download helper and it said it was downloading then when I went to open it it said "File Not Found" I went on to find out I can not download ANYTHING, I can not download pictures, videos, mp3's, programs ANYTHING!!! (I noticed when it prompts me to save it says Save As: All Files and when you drag the list down it will only save as all fileswhen it should be saving as flv. or mp3. ect... and this never happened before) Not only is it happening in Firefox but when I went to Internet Explorer and tried to download a program it would prompt me to save or run I tried to save then to run both times it said it was doing something but then the Download screen would disappear. I can not download from I.E. or Firefox, Please Help!!!! the only thing I am still able to do is add apps to Firefox it still does that but that is it!!!

Oh also I did try System Restore it would only go back 5 days ago that did not work. I did download Adobe photoshop CS4 before the problem started but I have uninstalled it from my computer and deleted all files that came with it that did not help either!!

As a first response you might try a System Restore to a point prior to your problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Sorry I did not see your edit when I posted.

Do you have another computer you can download applications to?

If so burn these to a CD and install that way:

Try the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility:

Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

See if there are any Adobe entries.

    Also clean your registry:

    Freeware

Be sure you create the Backup file.

    Try IE again.

Hey i recently had a similar problem. By any chance have you changed your IE Security settings at all?

As mine were changed to the highest settings in IE, and in firefox downloading would glitch out and just wouldnt download (i never knew IE settings were applied to FF. but i guess they are) i then went onto IE and seen my settings were maxxed out for security for some reason and i wasnt able to download anything from IE either. I set it to medium settings again and from then on it was back to normal.

Just another suggestion if the previous one jephree posted doesnt fix it.

    ^^ good luck
