The antennae of my linksys WUSB adapter (the usb connected one) and my access point gets connected too. But many times does the computer loses internet since this happens and it will send packets but not receive..

Is the answer simple and i just need to buy a new one?

Also the little gray wire is stickin out of where the antenna use to be

This may be a firewall issue. Try temporarily disabling your firewall (only for a minute or two) to see if this resolves the problem. Do not leave your firewall off permanently - if you find that the firewall is causing the problems, you'll need to adjust the settings so that it can work with your wireless network.
