    Firefox won't play Quicktime videos

    Hello all

Firefox keeps crashing every time I try to play a quicktime video from a website.

    Any ideas?

    Ed

i NEED MORE INFO. Do you have the most recent version of quick time & fire fox? Does this happen on a particular site or on any site? What SP do you have? Have you tried other computers? Have you ever been able to do this? If so what have you changed on your computer since it last worked?

    Hello townsbg

Thanks for replying to my query.

Yes I do have the latest version of Firefox and Quicktime.

One of the sites it has happened on is for example:

    2002 TARDIS Concept

If you scroll to the bottom of the page there are quicktime videos (VR's)

Not sure what you mean by SP?? (sorry)

Yep I used to be able to view it with Firefox, also I have IE and it works fine on there so I'm thinking it must be something to do with Firefox settings.

Yes I recently configured Firefox to open quicker because it was taking ages to open on first boot up.

By Sp I meant service pack. If it works in IE then my guess would also be FF. I suppose you could try un-doing whatever you did to reconfigure it or you can try to reinstall it.

I didn't mean to put my first sentence in caps. I hope that didn't come across as too harsh.

FYI the site you mentioned worked for me with FF 2.0.0.20 & QT 7.5.5.

I'm a bit worried about doing a re-install as I might lose all my bookmarked sites and toolbars etc.

No you didn't come across as too harsh at all :-)

Eddy... in Firefox, you can also go to:

Bookmarks / Organize Bookmarks / Import and Backup / Backup

...and backup the bookmarks to whatever folder/drive you wish.

Hey chaps I managed to get it working :-)

I uninstalled Firefox and re-installed it and now it works fine.

Thanks to you for all your advice.

Sometimes a reinstall of a incorrectly working program is the only (or most convenient) way to fix the program. You probably had a setting wrong or something wrong with the configuration file(s) and a reinstall resets everything in the program back to it's original configuration, if that makes any sense. You are lucky that that is all that it took.

    Glad it worked out.
