Hi aa, and welcome.
First, I can assume this is not a Mac computer, but that's about it. Some info about your hardware, OS and type of mouse might help.
Please tell us what "everything" is, then maybe we can go from there.I have tried everything to get it to "calm down"
: Im so sorry........... I forgot to mention that I am on broadband and Vista.....I have recently loaded Kaspersky Anti-Virus.......is that enough information?
Im a "elderly" lady who is not that clever when it comes to computers........lol
It just seems so odd that I only get the flickering when Im on the net?![]()
You are smart enough to seek help and that is more clever than many!Im a "elderly" lady who is not that clever when it comes to computers........lol
When did this problem start?
Have you scanned for malware?
What is the make and model of your computer?
Hello Bill.......I have been married to a Bill for 46 years, a nice name!
Sorry my mind wandered a bit there.............
I scanned.......all OK
Computer is home made by my Son and I have had it over a year.
You are wondering why I don't ask my Son to help, well.......I hate to bother him at the moment with all the problems that the self employed small businesses are going through here in the UK.
Do you think it could be the Kaspersky Anti-virus that was loaded about a month ago?
I really do appreciate you taking the time to help me.......my Son has just come back from New York and I have a bell with "I love New York" ......he LOVED the USA.....especially the people.
So sorry to ramble on........lol
Did the problem start right after Kaspersky was installed? What made you install it? Were you having problems? Since this only happens when browsing the Internet, I would want to make sure it is clean of malware. I recommend you purge your system of clutter using Windows [XP / Vista] Disk Cleanup, ATF Cleaner or CCleaner. If you use CCleaner, then during installation, uncheck the option to install the Yahoo toolbar and before first use, go to Options > Settings > Advanced and ensure Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours is unchecked.
Note: Ensure you know your site credentials (user names and passwords) for sites you frequent before cleaning; you may have to login again at next visit.
Then download, install, update, and run Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware (MBAM) to ensure your system is free of malware. Then do the same for all other computers on your network (everything on your side of the Internet gateway, typically a cable/DSL modem).
If that does not help, I would be inclined to look the driver for the graphics card.
Thank you SO MUCH for all that great advice......I shall do it straight away.
My Husband bought me the Kaspersky Anti-virus thinking that I needed it.......I am going to un-install it and follow your advice. I did not have any problems before loading it.
Your quick reply to my problem is really appreciated........God Bless......Ann
Now wait. I am not suggesting you go without a real-time (full-time, in-memory, active scanning) anti-virus program. You must always have an AV running and current, and certainly Kaspersky has a reputation as one of the better. So if you decide to remove Kaspersky AV, you need to have another good one already downloaded for immediate install.
How much RAM does this computer have?
Don't worry I will reload when I have had a good spring clean (computer).
This is the 1st time on the net without protection and the mouse pointer is not flickering........so I suppose it must have been the Kaspersky AV......I shall find out when I reload.
Thanks again for your help.......
You definitely should get some AV loaded immediately, and avoid using the Internet without it again. If simply reloading Kaspersky does not fix the problem - that is, it starts to flicker again, download another "real-time AV before removing Kaspersky. Be sure to reboot after removing any AV and before installing another. AVG Free, Avira AntivVir, avast! Antivirus, BitDefender Free Edition are a few of the more popular ones I know to be capable.
