    Intermmitent wireless connection - USB?

Hi, we have set up a wireless connection with our pc. We are using a wireless USB connector.

The problem is intermettent connection. one second on, one second off.

The broadband supply works fine with another laptop using its built in device and with this pc when connected by cable.

i don't have the pc with me, i have been asked to look at it.

here are pics of what is happening

these pictures alternate just about every second. also notice the signal strength in the window above

and this is the device we're using. the blue light basically flickers..

Yeah, I am not crazy about USB (or wireless for that matter) for networking and don't much like it for printing either, but that's another story.

Even though Netgear is typically a trustworthy brand, wireless is not, nor are all devices. Notwithstanding the significant security risks to your computers, your network, and your ISP account when using wireless, wireless connectivity is affected by distance, cell phones, wireless phones, RF remotes, microwaves, radio transmitters, TVs, nearby wireless networks, walls, floors, ceilings, and antenna orientation and location (on the computer, and WAP side). Like messing with rabbit ears on an old TV, sometimes you have to have the antenna, tongue, and left foot positioned just right.

Just rotating the device, which contains the antenna, 90° horizontally, or vertically, may help, as might putting the antenna higher off the floor. If the WAP has external antennas, changing their orientation and height may help.

If it does the same thing when within arms reach of the WAP, I would try another device with that computer. Actually, I would just try another anyway.
