internet disconnect after every 2 hours

    Unhappy internet disconnect after every 2 hours

    hi......
    my internet disconnect (broadband) after every 2 hours and its starts only when i reboot my laptop, i have a ADSL modem.when it disconnect the dsl light is on. IN local area connection tab ,its shows lease obtained and lease expired ,which has excatly of 2 hours gap between both. i have turned off firewall(quick heal antivirus 08).i am frustrated of this as i dont know where the problem lies....please help me out from this problem............

    Dont know too much about DSL modems, however, it sounds like when you boot the PC, it obtains an IP address automatically from your modem. Usually IP's are leased for X amount of time, and then should renew automatically when that lease time expires. By the looks of it, Your PC is not automatically renewing the IP when the Lease from the Modem expires. Not sure if this is a setting with your modem or PC. Maybe contact your ISP and inquire about the modem settings.

    Also, are you using a router along with this DSL modem?
