When I am surfing the net I am getting pages load up with something to do with the content I am viewing, this suggests to me that my browser has been hijacked but I can't find anything that says it is there? any ideas anyone?

To be clear, you are saying your system is loading up [apparently] legitimate stuff from the page you are viewing, and not porn, or something totally different from what you are doing, right? When I am surfing the net I am getting pages load up with something to do with the content I am viewing
If so, it actually sounds as if your browser is "pre-fetching" the stuff on your page in anticipation of what you might click on next - something newer browsers and some add-ons (like IEPro) do to help speed up browsing. A great idea actually, if you have the bandwidth and horsepower to support it.Again, that would depend on what is really happening. Hijacking usually results in your browser home page being changed, or your browser actually taking you some place you don't want to go.this suggests to me that my browser has been hijacked
Unfortunately, we can only guess because we don't know if you are using a webphone, PC, laptop, Internet Explorer (and version), Firefox (and version), any add-ons (like IEPro) or even what version of what operating system you are using.![]()
When did this "problem" start?
What browser add-ons (plug-ins)?
What are you using for your security system/defenses?
Do you participate in P2P filesharing?
To be safe, I recommend you to purge your system of clutter using Windows [XP / Vista] Disk Cleanup, ATF Cleaner or CCleaner. If you use CCleaner, then during installation, uncheck the option to install the Yahoo toolbar and before first use, go to Options > Settings > Advanced and ensure Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours is unchecked.
Note: Ensure you know your site credentials (user names and passwords) for sites you frequent before cleaning; you may have to login again at next visit.
Then download, install, update, and run Malwarebytes's Anti-Malware (MBAM) to ensure your system is free of malware. Then do the same for all other computers on your network (everything on your side of the Internet gateway, typically a cable/DSL modem).
Sorry would help if I gave you more information. I am running Vista ultimate . I use both firefox and IE.
What happens is that when I log on to a site I use I then get a page load up in the similar subject...........like if I log on to play a game then a page will load in addition advertising another game site, or if I ook at a competition site then I will get how to win a wii.
Can range from anything to playing a game to having a holiday. It is when I use IE I am almost certain of that. I run Ccleaner and Advanced windows care, and a defrag every week if it needs it. I have cleaned my internet cookies and cleared all history etc.
As far as I know when this started happening a couple of days ago there was no new site that I visited. I did get a sockwave download for an update but that is all.
My antivirus is usually real good and warns me of anything untowards, and if the site will try to attach anything, it stops all actions until I reply.
Hope that is enough info but will hapily provide more.
As noted above, you need to make sure you uncheck the 48 hour setting in CCleaner.
Did you run MBAM?
Well thank you, I run the malware cleaner and that seemed to do the trick. I am amazed that despite having a lot on my pc to protect it malware still managed to attach itself. I am so careful not to go to nortorious sites and do not download what isnt verified but still I manage to get the odd problem. Thank you very much indeed...
Great! I am glad you got it resolved and thanks for the followup.I recommend you run MBAM once a week or so. If you are not using a real-time anti-spyware scanner, you should. You might want to check out my sticky, Cleaning Out Malware, to make sure all the bases are covered.I am amazed that despite having a lot on my pc to protect it malware still managed to attach itself. Are you the only user of that computer?
Yes mostly sometimes my 4 year old grand son goes onto cbbies! Took me years to master using a pc and there he is at 4 well at home and very knowledgeable too. he doesnt go anywhere else just plays games on their site.
I certainly will use the malware scan everyweek, thanl you for you time as I can see this is a bust site with some very complex problems, what would this world be like without the likes of you and yours!
