Hello! Im having issues while using my work laptop at home.it is no longer allowing me to log into my hotmail, or facebook or bebo etc. Basically any site that requires a username and password to enter. I can get the main page up, but after i enter my details and hit'log in' it comes up with page cannot be displayed.
When i have the laptop in work, i am able to sign in no problem so i know the sites arent blocked or anything.
I also know that before the i used to be able to sign in to these sites at home on this laptop. It feels like there is a setting or some security thing that is stopping me from signing in.
Any solutions?

Can you provide a list of the sites you have tried that you haven't been able to log into?
Also are you using a wireless router? What kind of internet connection do you have?

Since you are using a computer for your work you should talk to the computer technicians at your work. Have they done anything to it lately? Perhaps they have put some kind of a program onto the computer that inhibits what you can do on the computer when it isn't connected through their network. Find out what kind of usage policy they have on work computers. If they recently worked on the computer & it started acting this way after they worked on it, then I would suspect that they did something to it. If it belongs to your employer then they have the right to do with it what they want & to even restrict its use so what the problem seems to you (as you stated) might very well be the case & if so there is nothing you can do about it since it is not your computer.

Since we were given the laptops, they havent been touched by any admin at all. The thing that is baffling me is that both our laptops and desktop computers in work are treated equally and the same restrictions are put on both. However i am still able to access these sites on the desktop in work. hotmail facebook bebo etc. i can go into bebo and look at peoples profiles (even my own) but i cant log in. with the others, the only problem occurs when i try to log in.
i tried looking at internet settings, advanced and LAN settings. i noticed that i couldnt select 'automatically detect LAN settings' as it was ghosted. i guess i'll just take it into work and get them to sort it.
