Can't Log In on certain Weblink

A while back my I allowed a relative to use my computer (YOUNG TEENAGERS). I notice that my computer had began to run extra slow. Come to find out they had been viewing the adult sites. So when an older relative came to visit this his friend who I believe to be a computer GURU said he could fix the problem I had no reason to doubt him. Needless to say the problem was not resolve but to make matters worse he did something that's not allowing me to view the site I use on the regular. For instance before Mr. Computer Tech did his magic I was able to log onto Yahoo home page and go into my Yahoo Mail and the same with MSN mail and various other websites. There wasn't a site I couldn't get on but since this incident I can't even get on the websites I used previous. I can log on to Yahoo home page but everytime I attempt to log on to Yahoo Mail I get "The Page Can Not Be Displayed" and that's the same message I receive when I try to log on to the other sites as well. Funny thing about that is I'm able to get onto my Yahoo Mail if I log on through my Yahoo Messenger. I don't understand how I could use these sites before he got on but I can't use them now. So I just don't know what to do. PLEASE HELP.

Dear Shenean, I am not an expert AT ALL, but I think there are two separate problems here: Your young relative may have downloaded something onto your computer that is slowing it down. Check under settings > add or remove programs to see whether there are any that you do not recognize. Otherwise download ccleaner (I think it is on ccleaner.com -- I always download from the file-hippo option) and adjust the settings so it cleans out what you want and leaves what you want to leave. If that still does not work, try to get your computer scanned by a reliable virus scanner such as AVG-free; or download hijackthis (google it) and post the report here. I do not know how to read reports by hijackthis, but someone here might.

The second problem is that your computer tech friend probably installed a filter or parental controls on your computer, which is blocking some of the sites you normally use. I am not certain how to deal with this. ...

I hope this information at least gets you started on the right track; or gets someone aware of your problem. I notice that this is an old post -- perhaps you do not even need my help any more.
