Ad Aware killed my internet connection

Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone know how I can fix it?

I ran Ad Aware on my computer and it came up with a huge list of spyware. I dealeted all of the spyware on the list. Ever since then I have not been able to view any web sites.

This is for Adaware-SE, Adaware-SE quarantines items instead of deleting them, open the program and click on the quarantine icon. See if that resolves your problem, if not Adaware isn't the problem. HTH

BTW please give us a little more information.

How do you connect to the Internet, dialup, DSL, cable?
What version of Windows do you have installed?
Also if you aren't able to view any websites how did you post this question, are you on a different computer ?

Hello Bear thanks for trying to help
My internet connection is dial up (I am able to connect to the internet I just cant do anything with it), my opperating system is windows xp. Im using someone elses computer to try and sort out the problem.
I tried restoring the quarantined items, in fact it was the first thing I tryed I was wondering if maybe a windows file was deleted by mistake. Ive tryed pretty much everything I can think of. Im begining to think I might have to reinstall windows

What exactly happens when you try to view a web page? Do you get an error message for example? I think it's highly unlikely that Ad-aware has caused the problem BTW.

I get a message saying "cannot dispay page", the reason i think it is to do with ad aware is because it was straight after i deleted the files that i got this massage

Sounds like you may have a corrupted Winsock layer, try downloading and installing and running LSPFix

    Hello Bear
I think were on the right track with the winsock layers, Ive been reading up about it on other sites. I ran lspfix and it said could not find winsock 2, I tried downloading the files but can not find anywhere that I could. Theres plenty of info and downloads for older versions of windows but nothing for xp.
Thanks for helping, I think were getting close to a solution
