    Ebay Category Selection

Hey All, I recently wanted to sell some things on Ebay but when I go to select a Category I cant, they are all greyed out and unselectable. I e-mail ebay help and they told me to clear my Temp Internet files and Caches, I've done so but still encounter the same problem.
I have the same problem on Firefox and IE, Im using IE7, and Firefox 2.
Any Ideas as to whats going on would be great.
    Thanks,
    Dan

    Hello, Dan:

Thank you for writing to eBay. My name is Michelle. I appreciate the
    chance to assist you.

It sounds like you can resolve this problem by clearing your web
    browser's cache and cookies.

Most websites use cookies so that each time you visit the site, it will
'remember' you, and remember your preferences, user name etc. eBay uses
cookies, but sometimes too many outdated eBay cookies on your computer
can cause you to have problems viewing our site.

Your cache is the local storage where copies of images and web pages are
kept on your computer's hard disk (or in its memory), so the next time
your browser needs an image or web page, it can get it from your cache,
which is much faster than downloading a new copy each time. When your
cache gets full it can cause pages to load slowly or not at all.

Below are some instructions on how to clear your cookies and cache. This
should help correct the problems you're experiencing.

To delete your eBay cookies for Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

    1. Click on your Start menu, on the bottom left of your screen.

    2. Select the Search or Find option, and then Files or Folders.

    3. Type in Cookies in the search box and make sure that your hard drive
(usually C is selected in the 'look in field'.

    4. Once the search is complete, find the folder named Cookies and double
    click on it.

    5. Delete all the files that have the word 'eBay' in them.

To clear your cache in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:

    1. Close all browsers.

    2. Click the Start button, and select Settings, then Control Panel.

    3. Choose Internet Options.

    4. On the General tab, click Delete Files, being sure to click Delete
    all offline files.

    5. Next, click on Clear History.

    6. Click OK when you are asked to delete all the items in your History
    folder.

    *Note*
Older versions of Internet Explorer, may have slightly different
pathways to clear the cache. However, this option is usually found under
the Internet Options section or try using Internet Explorer's help
    pages.

    Mozilla Firefox 2.0:
    1. Click on Tools > Options > Privacy
    2. Within the Private Data section, click Clear Now
    3. Check the box next to Cache and Cookies
    4. Click Clear Private Data Now
    5. Select OK to exit

I thank you for writing to eBay and wish you continued success in your
    future transactions.

    Regards,

    Michelle H.

    Hey Dan!

    Few things we can check:

    1) Create a new user account (Control Panel -> User Accounts) and log into that account and check if it's the same.

    2) Try going to eBay using Safe Mode with Networking. To enter safe mode turn off your computer, press the power button to turn it back on and the second you see ANYTHING on the monitor keep on pressing the F8 button (at 1 sec intervals). You will be then presented with the list of options your system can start in. Select "Safe Mode with Networking", press Enter and then press Enter again. Once in Safe Mode try the eBay site. Once you're done checking eBay restart your computer as if you did it normally and don't press anything during the boot.

Also, attach a screenshot of the problem you are facing.

    Cheers and good luck!

Hey Abes, I tried both suggestions no improvement, the same problem every time. Attached is a screen shot of the problem, the greyed out categorys are supposed to be sellectable but are not, I tried it on my roommates PC (it uses the same internet account as me) and it worked fine.
Any help would be so fantastic! Thanks,
    Dan

I've gone through my browser settings but cant see any reason why the problem is happening. Could it have to do with any software I have relating to my browser? Like my firewall ect?

Under the suggested catagories, are all of the options there greyed out as well?
When it says "put what you are going to sell", it uses those keywordsto generate a list of reccommended catagories

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
Hey all, I ran a registry cleaner (CCleaner) and that seemed to fix the problem, works fine now and has for a while.
    Thanks for your help.
