    Unhappy Internet Connection Lost

    Hi, Can anyone help please?
Last week following the renewal of the clock battery in my PC and i think the update of some software i now can't connect to the internet.
My PC is an AMD AthlonXP 2000+ on an ASUS motherboard with a built in VIA Rhine 11 Fast Ethernet adaptor. Th OS is XP with SP2 and all the latest updates. This PC goes into a wired Linksys ADSL2 Gateway which is also used by the laptop i am using now and another PC. Both connect as normal. I have tried swapping ports with no effect.
Because of the "flat battery" the AVG virus checker had not been updated for a week or two. On the 11th June with new battery installed it came up that it had picked up a Trojan Horse Generic 10 HJF which AVG healed. I can't remember what software update i OK'd but i recon i lost conectivity round about then. I have checked the error log for that day and have attached it for your info.
Everything on the PC looks OK, the Ethernet adaptor checks out, etc.
When i try connecting via Firefox or IE it comes up "Problem loading page" "Server not found - Firefox can't find the server at -----"
I have looked through lots of threads but nothing really simillar.

I would be really gratefull for any guidance. Let me know if you need any more info

By removing that battery you cleared the CMOS.

I'd check your BIOS settings and also reload your motherboard drivers.

You could also try a System Restore to a date prior to the problem.

    System Restore
    --------------------------------------------------
You might try a System Restore to a point prior to your problem:

start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
The first thing that i did was a system restore - no change.
Looked at the BIOS and all that looks OK but unfortunately can't reload the motherboard drivers as i don't have them and cant find it on the ASUS site or any other. It's a ASUS A7V266MX 1.03A.
I have tried starting in safe mode - no change
Would it be worthwhile to try a stand alone lan card?

    Any other ideas?

    Many thanks

    Hiya,
Do you have any idea what Socket your motherboard is so I can help you find the drivers?

I've found out for myself, the Motherboard is Socket A and I have double checked and there aren't any drivers on the site. Bit odd really.

I'm not really sure but I think this is the page for your Bios . Translated version of http://volftp.tiscali.it/p

    http://translate.google.com/translat...3DN%26pwst%3D1

Use 2nd link as 1st one doesn.t work.

Looks like you can't connect to anything past that webpage. Sorry.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
Is there any other avenues that i could follow without reloading the motherboard drivers?
