My off-line Win98se computer has IE5 installed. When tried to install Norton Works, they required a higher IE edition so I downloded IE6 setup and tried to install it on the off-line computer.
I receive message that the former edition of IE still works and requires reboot. But rebooting doesn't help and the message appears again.
how can the IE6 be installed, or perhaps something more than IE6 setup is required.

This is because I have all the IE6 stetup files on my machine (I had saved them once upon a time - 42 MB) and tried moving them to the DAL server for you to download. I entered a reply post, but deleted it as I couldn't get the link to work.

here is the exact error message received when trying to install IE6

A previous installation has pending work requiring a reboot. You need to restart your computer to complete that installation before running Internet Explorer Setup. Setup will now close.

As I wrote before - rebooting doesn't help and this message returns every time

Try Windows Installer CleanUp Utility: Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

Try the IE Repair Tool. Start, Run, type in msinfo32. In the Menu Bar, go to Tools, Internet Explorer Repair Tool.

Post back with the results.

There is another possible fix, but it involves editing the Registry, so try the above first.
