Hello all,
I have recently moved to a new house, I have a Laptop ACER computer and was using the wireless LAN at my previous house with no trouble.
I have now moved in with a friend and he has wireless in this house. He gave me the network key to use this wireless network which is WPA protected. I have put this in and connected and got the icon saying I am connected on my task bar, 54 mbps and signal strength of excellent.
However, I cannot get on the intenet? If I click the icon it will tell me how long I have been connected for but I am not getting access to web pages through it, it also tells me the numbers of packets sent and recieved but these are always very low.
I can plug direct in to the router and so access the internet this way but need to get wireless working.
Other uses in the house are able to use the Wireless network with no trouble.
My Laptop is in the same room as the router so its not a signal strength issue.
I have heard something about pinging the router to see if my Laptop can "see" it?
Does anyone know what might be wrong, I am afraid I don't know loads about computers so I'm in need of help!!!
Thanks,
James.
