My friend just got a new laptop and she went online for the first 2 days. After those 2 days the internet won't work anymore. I tried turning off her wireless router downstairs and tried unplugging the modem cord that's connected to the wall. How can I fix this? Please help

nope I haven't tried connecting at my house because it's her laptop. It worked before, then all of a sudden it just wouldn't work.

Her dad supplies the internet, its public though, no WEP.

I tried connecting with an ethernet cable that goes to the wall but it didn't work, it can find the routers nearby but it can't "identify" to the internet. It says HER PC ------ NETWORK X INTERNET. As in it can't reach the internet.

I'm pretty sure the wireless router got an Ethernet connection. She has an old laptop and it works with the cord that I tried plugging into the new laptop she got.

Did you try the correct connetion on the laptop some have a RJ11 as well as RJ45 ethernet
