    memory could not be "read"

    I work on winXP, Office97.
I just put my name on my site and linked it to my e-mail address, but when checking it offline I receive an eror message
The instruction at "0x240e8cc9" referenced memory at "0x0d4caf78". The memory could not be "read".
Please advise – where lies the bug?
How to get rid of it?

You need to be more specific. What do you mean you linked your email address to your name? What site?

Some solutions mentioned are to reseat the memory modules - this action scrapes the contacts cleans. Make sure you power off AND UNPLUG the computer from the wall first. While in there make sure all is clean of heat trapping dust and dirt.

You might want to test your RAM too. You can test your RAM using one of the following programs. Both require you to create and boot to a bootable floppy disk or CD to run the diagnostics. Using the floppy method is generally easier and yet another reason I still include floppy drives in all my new PC builds. However, the CD method is just as effective at detecting RAM problems. Allow the diagnostics to run for several passes or even overnight. You should have no reported errors.
Windows Memory Diagnostic - see the easy to follow instructions under Quick Start Information.
    or
MemTest86+ (for more advanced users) - an excellent how-to guide is available here.
