Please provide more information, we need to know at the very least what version of Windows you are using.

Hi there, thanks for the quick response.

    Location - Belgium
    ISP - Telenet
Modem - Motorola SBV5121E Cable Modem
    No router is being used
    Wired ethernet connection
    Computer - HP Pavilion ze2000
XP Home - I have auto updates on so i assume SP2
    Internet Browser - IE

The computer im on now is working on vista and has always been working fine.
The HP one i have problems with, just stopped working all of a sudden. I can somehow get a connection and can even get on to msn messenger, i just cant view any webpages at all.

I did the following with the cable plugged in to the non working computer

I have also tried all of the below -

    resetting IE to defaults

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log

tried downloading and installing another browser Firefox-

    All firewalls turned off

also i tried to reboot in safe mode and for some reason my laptop just cuts out and turns off a few seconds after its loaded in safe mode

    Hope this all helps

    Thanks

Thanks so much for the help
