    DVD RW Audio Problems

Hi, as a newcomer to this forum can I say hello to everybody.

I have a problem which I cannot resolve. For the last few months I have had problems with the audio output from my two DVD RW devices despite no hardware changes. This applied to both CD & DVD recordings. After checking sound card, speakers increasing memory, and updating drivers I still had no solution.

I decided to replace the DVD devices as a last resort. However this also achieved nothing.
If I rip one of my CD's onto my hard drive the music replays perfectly. If I burn back onto a blank disc the audio sounds garbled on the devices. However, if I play the same burnt CD on my car radio it sounds perfect.

If anybody has any suggestions that I can try to resolve my problem I would be most grateful

    Firstly, Welcome to the forums!!!

Have you tried updating or reinstalling your media player? Or tried a different media player? Becasue it would appear that the drives are OK as they will rip and burn OK. What happens if you try to play a DVD??

If you are using Windows media player, try downloading the newest version.

    Hope This Helps.

    HI Paul,

Thanks for your response. I have tried all that. I have replaced DVD RW devices, but they too rip & burn OK but not playback.

I have added a sound card ilo one on motherboard. I have updated all known associated drivers including Microsoft Media Player, Nero & PowerDVD.

What's interesting is that after getting the problem I downloaded a program called WinAmp which was required to play a local radio station. By coincidence it also contained a Rip/Burn/Library facilty. When I played a CD which would not play using other programs this was perfect. It is also perfect on my car's device.

Downside is it will only play AOL Videos not DVD's. It also only records Audio whereas I like to record MP3 in a data format. This enables me to get up to 10 albums on one CD, and I can scroll through albums using my car radio controls.

I use PowerDVD for viewing DVD's but again if I play through my DVD Devices the Audio is not good.

I think I have a software conflict but where to start I don't know. I've Updated most associated programs without success.

My work around at the moment is Rip & Burn using Nero (for data format), but playback using WinAmp. Don't have a workround for DVD's though.

    Regards

Do the drives have a funny 3 pin (I think it's three) connector on the back on the very left side (when looking at it from behind). If they do, this is an audio connector. You may already have a lead for this, if not, I suppose eBay or somewhere is probably best. This will connect the drive directly to the sound card. When playing DVDs and CDs, it SHOULD feed sound directly into the sound card.

    Hi Paul,

I do have the audio leads from my first DVD devices. I run them for 3 years without the leads and everything was OK. I had been told that they were no longer required. Then I hit problems.

My new devices did not come with audio cables. However, I connected up one device to the Sound Card. Unfortunately No change.
