Up until a few days ago, I was able to save to HDD any images sent via email. Now I cannot. I have also tried to download images from the web and save them, this also fails.

Any idea what is wrong and how to fix it?

There is no error message. The picture appears from the attachment (email) or downloads from the website. If it downloads from a website, the 'downloads' window, which always used to show, is no longer there. I can print directly, but when I right click the image, which always gave me an option to save in the past, I only get that option occasionally and if I use it, then the image is not saved in the specified file. If I click 'File', I get an option to 'Save page' (but even that will not save anything) and no option to 'save as', which used to happen. I confess I am confused and can only think there was some kind of attack on the computer which has disabled the 'save' function.

If I scan an image, it will save normally.
