    quicky - CWshredder warning??

    Hi all,

I have my PC pretty much under control after regularly checking the wonderful world of D-A-L

but after trying to add another tool, cwshredder, ( tried several sites now ), I keep getting a warning notice when trying to run/save the file. Something like publisher not verified, don't download...http://www.pcadvisor.co.uk/downloads...7&itemId=23551

    Am I being TOO cautious

Also, every time i run my AVG scan I get these straight away:
    kernel32.dll
    user32.dll
    shell32.dll
    ntoskrnl.exe............change.............C:\WIND OWS\system32 etc etc

Should I have these, or should I have a clean page after scanning?
p.s, after scan it's usually clean so i'm more perplexed than bothered too much.

    Cheers for any info, Dave.

I get no such warnings. What utility is issuing them on your machine? (Just the general Windows warnings I gather.)

(I already had/use this program, but downloaded, scanned, and ran it anyway. (Via your link.) Again, no problems.)

Try a direct download from (very reliable known vendor source):

    http://www.intermute.com/spysubtract..._download.html

If 'publisher not verified' still appears, then that is a housekeeping problem where the vendor has not kept its registrations up-to-date.

Also, every time i run my AVG scan I get these straight away:
    kernel32.dll
    user32.dll
    shell32.dll
    ntoskrnl.exe............change
Tools like AVG may monitor certain critical systems file for evidence of change. Such files might be expected to have legitimately changed if you just ran something like 'critical updates' or some other trustworthy install. Otherwise, there may be cause for concern:

Hmm, strange. I downloaded and still got the standard WinXP red shieldy thing with a cross through it saying don't download...so I did, lol. Quick little scan isn't it! All was clean.

Thanks Vop for your info, I read the google/AVG forum links and it seems to explain it a bit more.

    Cheers guys

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
    I probably don't get these warning because I have no XP updates installed other than;
    1) Time Zone
    2) one WMP update
and I have the Security Center service turned off.

It's the nature of the program that's (most likely) giving a "false positive" warning.
