Chat room connection problems

Chat room connection problems
What could prevent my computer from connecting to a chat room? I used to go in chat rooms years ago. Recently tried to enter one and got the message, "can't connect to server". So, I tried some other ones. I get the same message in all of them. Tried IE7 and Firefox browsers, same results with both.
Tried:
ezboard chat
YUKU chat
eve chat
Deleted all cookies, rebooted, still no connection. Have tried for the last few days. Other people have told me they can get into these rooms, so it must be something on my computer stopping me from connecting.
Thanks for any help.

"Years ago"? Same computer? Same Operating System? Same Firewall? Same ISP?
Any other internet problems?

When MSN shut down their chat rooms, whenever that was, that was the last time I was in a chat room. The only thing that has changed since the last time I went into a chat room is I went from dial-up to DSL. A forum I am a member of is now YUKU and the members go into the board chat room, so I thought I would go in. That is when I found out I couldn't connect to any chat rooms.
No other computer problems. My instant messenger works fine. I can visit any website on the web I want with no trouble.
I turned my firewall off, still wouldn't connect.
I turned my Trend Micro protection off, still no connection.
On YUKU, I get this:

And pretty much the same answer on any other chat I try, just worded differently.

Check your Event Viewer via Administrative Tools.
Open the System as well as Application tabs and look for red X errors that coincide with your problem. Details here:

Yes, there are red x errors that coincide with each time I tried to enter a chat room.

Please double click the error and post back:

Is this the information you are looking for?
The Trend Micro Proxy Service service depends on the following nonexistent service: tmtdi
Huh? I have turned off my Trend Micro, and still can't connect. Hhmmm....

If that event occurs every time you try to enter chat forums I'd surmise that Trend Micro is the problem.
tmtdi is a legitimate TM .dll so perhaps it needs to be reinstalled.
Removing it would be a first step in see if the problem persists.
Just turning off such software rarely stops all it's functions and services that self start.
You can either remove the software or try to find all its starting points with Autoruns.

I purchased the Trend Micro as a download. I do not have a hard copy. If I uninstall it from my computer, how do I re-install it? Would I have to get a disc from them first?
