Yesterday I bought a song from Buy.com and downloaded it, but can't play it. The sticking point seems to be when Windows Media Player tries to get the license from secure.buymusic.com. I get a "page cannot be displayed" error.

I have tried:

Upgrading from WMP 9 to 11
Re-individualizing the DRM file
Installing and running WinAmp
Performing all of the IE settings tweaks suggested in the page not found message including listing buy.com as a "trusted site"
Disabling my firewall

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

I dont have any idea how you can fix the license problem - have you tried running it with another music program (eg itunes)? If you cant fix it, I would suggest just downloading it from limewire etc.

I've worked on this for hours, yes I've tried different players, reinstalled WMP with the latest updates, you name it. I'm deciding to accept that I'm screwed.

Yeah, well it would be easier to download it from limewire or a bittorrent, you've already purchased the music meaning you've already paid the loyalties etc. for the artist.

Edit: have you tried contacting the staff of buy.com or wherever you purchased the music from? They should be able to help.

I sent Buy.com an email and they reset the license, but other than that I haven't gone further with them.
