What's happening: (I don't know if these problems are related)

I also can't sign in to hotmail because when I click "sign in" I get a blank page and the word "Done" on the bottem left corner of my browser. I have Windows Vista Home Premium, Internet Explorer 7, Java plug-in 1.6.0_02 Java HotSpot client VM. Symantec Antivirus 10.0.2.2000. windows defender, windows firewall.

I think this is related to javascript. I've tried opening IE7 with no add-ons and resetting IE7 settings. I've also made sure Active scripting was turned on in IE, and I don't think any other programs are blocking it (though I only poked
around my security software, not sure where to look).

How can I fix this? Any ideas?
