Internet Slow recently with Cable Modem
Hi, My friend has had a Cable Modem for a couple of months and it was working fine (meaning going fast) until recently, when the internet connection started slowing. Videos can be download fast but when watched they become very slow, online games also are hard to play because the connection becomes slow. I was wondering what I should do? Should we buy a new Cable Modem box, or get a new ethernet card? We are thinking about getting a Gigabit card to replace the ethernet card, could it work on his computer? Thanks.

Are you sure it is the connection, and not the processor speed or RAM? Check the performce in either task manager, or go to Start-->Run and type perfmon, and see if there is anything that is high (on the graph chart) consistently.
It sounds like if your videos still download fast, but run slow, that it is a computer issue and not a connection issue.
