What does it say? What does it look like? Screen shot?

thanks, i think it is called a LinksToolbar or perhaps StumbleUponToolbar. it features, at the moment, CustomiseLinks, FreeHotmail, Windows, W'dowsMarketplace, W'dowsMedia. seems to be related to vista marketing. i've tried to remove via settings Add/Remove but it is not listed. cannot find an uninstall option at any of the sites. it has reduced my google toolbar options. because i am a complete useless/hopeless techno i don't want to muck around with my h/drive too much, but am looking for some simplistic solution. and i am cranky that this has insinuated itself - k

StumbleUpon is considered a legitimate toolbar and is quite different from Links.

What version of IE? If 7, simply go to Tools > Manage Add-ons > Enable or Disable, then disable it. I think Firefox has similar add-on manager, but I can't remember. In IE6, go to Tools > Internet Options > Programs tab. Then select the Manage Add-ons button.

Now "Links" is part of IE, going back several versions and it is a simple way to use your favorites more easily - I use Links extensively, with folders on my Links toolbar and many favorites within. But if you don't want the Links tool bar either, just Right Click on a blank spot in toolbar and uncheck Links.

The solution was so simple. Right click on a blank spot in toolbar and uncheck toolbar title. Thanks Digerati and DAL.
