I need help. First, I am a computer idiot. I know the very basic of things, so please excuse me if I cannot explain my problem correctly. I am using win.98. I use a cable connection (adelphia) through which my home page is MSN. I use this as my basic connection, but I use AOL for all my emails. I have been having problems with my explorer for a few weeks. When I turn my computer on and off, every other time I get 7 websites attached to my favorites ( porn, gambling, dating, loans) and the home page comes up as search this page not detected. I also cannot reset my default page. So, the other day my wife upgraded our aol (9) to the new version. Now everytime I click the IE my home page comes up as about blank followed by two or three pop ups for spyware. I was told by AOL that it is not their problem and told me to download Spybot, Adware6, and lastly Highjackthis. Well I was able to do the first 2 but cannot get a free version of HjThis. I ran them both and followed the instructions, but NO GOOD. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS, but worse. I cannot send emails from AOL anymore, or from anywhere. I cannot access any accounts online. I have all kinds of security issues. My computer will not or cannot understand these issues. I tried up grading my explorer but no good, then I tried reseting it to the original 5.0, well it did that but again it made things worse. Everything I try fails and the hole is getting deeper. I decided to uninstall the spybot and adware6, but the remain, though blank on my computerLastly I have a solitaire game on my desk top that has also been completely corrupted. The name comes up as jibberish and it will not shut down or load. I have to contl,alt,delete it. (So I dumped it). Also I cannot play any online games. When I try to connect it brings up the about blank screen with two spyware screens pop ups. I am sorry for my long windedness. Can anyone help me destroy this monster? Thanks!
