I just got a used computer. Any time I try to connect to the internet in any way, it won't go. I've got inside the computer, and seen that it has cards hooked up for both a dial-up and an ethernet connection. I was just wondering if someone could tell me if I were to hook up something like a Netgear - GA311 - 10/100/1000Mbps Gigabit PCI Adapter into one of the PCI slots if that might solve the problem.

Right now no matter what you do, it won't connect. The dial-up says that there's no modem detected and the ethernet, for both a DSL and a cable connection, just doesn't respond at all.
