Smile "Save image as" - no box appears!

    Hi folks, I'm new here!

I have installed and updated AVG, Adaware and Hijackthis, so I'm certain that my Windows XP (using Mozilla Firefox browser) is clean and ok (never sure though)

My problem is, quite often whenever I try to click on an image to save it, no grey options box appears to save the image to!?

Is this common, and easy to fix? Also, if I have to uninstall then re-install Firefox, will I lose all my bookmarks and other data?

    Thanks

As for the Bookmarks you can Export them and then Import them after a reinstall.

    Cheers, Jephree

I'll look into this, but I don't want to lose all my saved passwords and also any cookies for remembering them, if I really don't have to?

Is there any way of resolving my problem, but avoiding this?

    Cheers

I see this might be an issue with images containing JavaScript.

In IE when you hover over an image you will often see text pop up.

This is a JavaScript within the image. Firefox does not handle this well and I see others post that this disables right click menus.

As I don't use Firefox I am uncertain where the exact settings are but you should have an option to disable JavaScript.

Or just use the "JavaScript Console" under the Tools menu to see any errors.

I've tried disabling Java/Javascript and cleared the java console, but still can't right-click & save!

Like I was saying before, I don't want to lose any data or helpful cookies at all, but I can't think of anything else.

you might need to update your java console. Thats what I had to do one time when I was trying to play a game. It wasn't showing up and it needed java.....i downloaded java from
java.sun.com/ and then the game worked fine
