i have orange unlimited broadband. i amsupposed to get 8mb. when they tested my line they told me i was able to get 6.5mb,
i was happy with that.

when i do online speed tests it says its only 2mb.

anyway to check it on xp without it only showing 100mbs on local network?
wanna know if orange have fiddled me.

are you talking about your download speed? because if i'm not mistaken that is always lower than the connection rate that you're told about, which in your case is 8mb.

as to checking it on XP... i guess it's not possible, so far as i know. you might want to find a program that monitors your broadband connection on your computer, so you can get a detailed analysis, you might have programs eating up your connection speed without you knowing.

and of course you can try http://www.speedtest.net/. pretty good and accurate for me anyways, remember though to close all downloads and such to achieve maximum performance.

You may get 6.5mb if everything is all fine what they normally mean is you can get UP TO 6.5mb


you may have to take into account 'contention ratio'
