My car won't start......................should I replace the moter???????
We can't read minds, please provide more information.
What browser are you using, Internet Explorer? If so what version?
If not IE then what browser are you using, Firefox, Opera, Netscape, and what version? What sites are you attempting to access when you receive this error message regarding Active X?
-
I am on IE.
I did not elaborate- as it was my impression (through the message i received) that when you accept activex from one site then you are alwasys able to accept info fropm activex.
i did not relaise it was specific from site to site...
-
So Bear..... are you able to advise?
-
They are probably sites with unsigned certificates. You can test your active x setup here. I get a pop up underneath the address bar asking if I want to install the add on.
I would only allow sites that I trust.
-
Thankyou. Is activeX a server side application then- that differs from site to site?
-
I think it depends on what your security settings are. I only use IE when sites won't work in FF so am not familiar with it at all, especially since IE7. I know I didn't used to get asked if I want to allow scripts to run on IE6.

ActiveX errors are due to an uninstalled program. If your operating system is earlier than Windows 2000, there is no process in place to stop third-party programs from deleting and replacing critical DLL (dynamic-link library) files. An ActiveX error that is related to a deleted or replaced DLL can be fixed by reinstalling the appropriate software.
There are many different kinds of ActiveX errors and each can be fixed in a different way. If you encounter an error and don't know what to do, simple type the exact error code into a search engine. An Internet search will quickly return a host of results from which you can easily fix the error. Similarly, utilize the Microsoft Knowledge Base on the Microsoft website. Just type in the error code and it will help you resolve the ActiveX error.
ActiveX is like a mold that is used to create more molds. These molds provide a specific action or series of actions with the operating system. ActiveX controls function on their own, separate from the program code that is used to implement them. As technology evolves at an ever-faster pace, new ActiveX technology is developed accordingly in order to keep up.
