How do you clear the address bar of a browser of recently visited sites?

I have clicked on the browser>tools>internet options>delete cookies and delete temporary files- however the addresses are still there/

just get the list to drop down, hilight and delete. that is what is do

on reflection- i think that becuase i am at work- perhaps they have some kind of setting to stop you deleting it?
