Router Booster
Hey guys,
Ok, so I recently got wireless broadband and found that my connection continually turned on and off every 30 mins or so and its gotten real annoying due to game cut offs and general internet surfing. We phoned out ISP and was told that our router (BT 1110) only had a reach of 10 feet, which is a problem considering i'm alot further than 10 feet away.
I was also told that there is a way to boost the range, however they didnt specify how. Can anyone recommend a range booster for a router?
Thanks!

do you have the same problem with wires, as you're only 10 feet away it may be worth trying.
are you connected with USB when wireless?
-
Wires are fine, however, someone in the house doesn't want wires "all over the place", therefore I have to have wireless. And yes, its via USB
-
USB uses system resources.
what make and model is the router?
have you tried a wireless card in the PC?

I can't find a BT 1110 router has it got any other markings?
-
Oh, hugely sorry mate. Its a 2110 BT router not a 1110.
-
just found it http://www.shop.bt.com/invt/car113 it has a range of about 50 metres.
have you got the filters on, have you got the modem plugged into the phone socket or are you using an extension lead?.
if you're using alot of system resources that may hinder as the USB needs a lot of resources from the machine, it may be better getting a PCI card something like http://www.dabs.com/productview.aspx...297,4294959763

Filters in and as is modem thats plugged into the socket. Dunno if this will help, however, 4 computers are all using this 2mb connection

do you have the same problem if just your machine is using the net?
are all the machines wireless, do they all cut off at the same time?
