Try to use a different channel on the router. If there is too much noise in the channel that you are using now or there are some other co-channel users nearby, the speed will go down, and it may drop all together. Most routers will come with the default set to channel 1, 6, or 11. Try a different channel such as 3, 7, and 9. Also, move your router around and watch signal level in your computer. Adjust router location until you see the best signal quality in the computer. Sometimes, a small change in location makes a big difference in signal quality.
