    Firefox proxy problem

I have a problem with my Firefox proxy. I use a proxy at work, and as such, have the "automatic proxy config script" box filled in there and it works. However, when using wifi (and direct connections) at other internet spots, I uncheck the box, delete the name of the proxy config URL, select "direct connection to the internet" and I still can't connect to any websites. IE works fine. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling FF and it does not fix the problem. Is there a FF config file somewhere I can dig through to try to find a proxy enable variable? Any other ideas?

    Thanks,
    Greg

Befoer uninstalling Firefox do the following: In MozilaFirefox folder, remove anything under "Profile". Also, under Application Data for Mozilafirefox anywhere, REMOVE anything uner "Profile". Then, Uninstall Firefox. Very important: Before downloading Firefox again, remove all proxy settings form your Windows IE. Now download the Firefox again. Hopefully problem is gone. Let me know the outcome. Good luck to you.

Thanks for the help. This time the proxy settings were not imported into firefox when I installed it. However, FF still will not connect to any websites. The error I get is: The connection was reset. I guess I'm no longer certain that this is a proxy issue, but I don't know what else it'd be.

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
In Firefox, click Tools-click Options-Click Connection Settings-Verify Direct Connection to Internet is chosen.
