can you help ive got in internet explorer 7 image place holders with red 'x' instead of images ?

Try this simple check: In IE, Click Tools-Click Internet Options-Click Advace-arrow down-Under MultiMedia, Make sure Show Picture is Checked.

i done what you said only show pictures is already checked?

What firewall and antivirus are you running?

Its either a firewall or addon blocking them or you need some ActiveX downloads you are missing- i.e. plugins.
