    Screen Freezing No Icons Opening

    Hello,

I have lost the right click on my desktop for the display properties no menu will come up. The mouse is working fine but when I move it over an icon Nothing will open. The start menu will not open either. The computer just freezes and i have to reset as I can't shut it down any other way.

    I have had a blue screen a few times with the error 0x0000007E(0xC0000005 0x00000000 0xF7A2B384 0xF7A2B080)

    Any help appreciated.

    Windows Xp
    Intel4(R)D 2.8Ghz

    Hi

Do you what PSU you have -- make model power rating in watts and amps on 12v 5v and 3.3v?

Run this software after installation and report back the temperatures, fan speeds and voltages: Sensors View

Have you ran any security software such as spyware, anti-virus scans?

Did you do anything recently that you think could cause this: any activity on net, any installations or deletions on PC?

Do you have any System Restores saved (under Accessories>System Tools)?

    Hello,

Thank you for the reply I took the computer back to the shop as it was only a couple of weeks old Told him the problems with the freezing and not being able from my desktop to open any icons or open the start menu.

He said he thought it was a software issue and formatted the system and gave it back It has run okay for a few days and i have added software over the past couple of days everything good.

Switched on today and It has froze again on the desktop I canno't get to open any desktop icons the mouse moves over them okay but when i double click nothing happens I try to restart with Control alt delete but that screen when it appears freezes also.

Don't know the PSU model i will try and find out also have Kerio as my firewall and AVG.

I have no system restore saved.

Can you get into your comp in safe mode from the boot up screen?

    Any help really appreciated.

    Hello,

Ran the software here are the results

    Temps
    CPU-34C
    SYS-45C
    AUX-43C
    HD0-33C

    Memory usage 37

    CPU Fan-1111rpm

    Voltage
    V coreA-1.23v
    V coreB-3.25v

What I have found now is the computer freezes when I right click properties and go to screen saver wallpaper etc .There are no error messages it just freezes and I have to reset.

Can anybody please elaborate on the possible causes?

    Thanks.

Thats just ridiculous. Most of them have no clue what they're doing and just want to make cash the easiest way and move on to a next customer.

If he had any knowledge or sincerity, he would've checked your system for at least a few days trying many things before jumping the wagon like that. The problem was not OS related as it would seem to any average user but hardware. A reformat makes me even more certain its your PSU or GPU.

Your temps look fine, but were they taken after you've done the normal tasks you use your computer for or on startup?
They need to be taken when your using it as you would normally.

What I was after were the voltages too. Were these the only voltage readings given to you?
If so there should be more.

    Download/install and then run HWiNFO32

Click on "Sensors" and report all the voltages you see.

What I have found now is the computer freezes when I right click properties and go to screen saver wallpaper etc .There are no error messages it just freezes and I have to reset.
Is that the only instance it freezes or are there other scenario's?

Ran the software here are the results

    Temp 1 -46v
    Temp 2 - 44v
    Temp 3 - 22v

    VCCP1 - 1.23
    VCCP2 - 3.26
    +3.3v - 3.18
    +5V - 5.17
    +12v - 10.88

It does freeze on other occasions it took me two resets to get online tonight. I can be online go to a folder on my comp and it freezes look at printer settings and it freezes there are quite a few instances. The latest is the computer will not log off when I shut down I have to hold the power button for a few seconds to shut down. I hope this helps and thanks for trying to solve the Issue. Like you said I wish the retailers were as helpful after they get our money.
