favourites disappeared,trouble bookmarking sites.
i just opened up firefox 2 this morning and all my favourites have gone
.its the same in ie6(which i never use).if i'm on a site now,and try to bookmark the site,things go well until i ok the little box that pops up.when i press ok,it does one of 2 things...either it just stays there,no matter how many times i press ok,or it will cancel if i press cancel.the 2nd one is if i open the dropdown menu on the bookmark box and select a different option,there are 2 options for the word bookmark
.if i change the default "bookmark" for the other "bookmark" and press ok,the name of the website disappears.
heres where it gets even stranger.when i retype the name and press ok again,it disappears again,but when i check my bookmark folder,it's there.i've lost around 85 websites from my bookmarks folder,and i'd like to recover at least some of them.i'm running wXP/SP2,256 ram 900 mghz processor 80 gig HDD.any more info,just let me know,and as always,any help greatly appreciated. thanx Daz.

If this is a new problem try performing a system restore to an earlier date.

hi bear,i've tried system restore,but no luck.when i was running spybot s&d,a window popped up on my taskbar saying that a folder was corrupted.i didnt manage to see it all as it disapeared too quickly.but i did notice that it mentiones mozilla firefox,so i ununstalled firefox,reinstalled it,no luck.the next time i uninstalled/installed,my bookmarks are back! when reinstalling,i placed it into a different directory(c:my documents,instead of c
rogram files),and this seems to be the problem.i'm not sure if redirecting puts onto a different part of the disc(i assume so),but if it does,then i may have a problem with my HDD.
