Those are Java Script errors.
If Internet Explorer have you checked the settings here:
Internet Explorer :
Select 'Tools' from the top menu
Choose 'Internet Options'
Click on the 'Security' tab
Click on 'Custom Level'
Scroll down until you see section labeled 'Scripting'
Under 'Active Scripting', select 'Enable' and click OK
If this is in Internet Explorer have you tried FireFox to see if the issue persists?
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
Also reinstalling the latest Java couldn't hurt:

i have java scripting enabled and i downloaded latest java...problem still persists...i keep getting error messages or explorer just times out trying to navigate to a web page
-
Did you try FireFox to see if the issue is the same?
Also I would suggest installing IE 7 if you do not have it already.

i have downloaded ie7 and firefox and still cannot go to most websites...i can go to craigslist but not to ebay...
-
actually i just successfully navigated to ebay with firefox but it took a loooong time ...i'm on a cable modem with a wireless router and usb network adapter...

Are the errors the same in both browsers?
Are these the full verbatim errors:
LINE:9 CHAR:1 ERROR:'ebay' is undefined CODE:0 URL:http/
ERROR:OBJECT EXPECTED
You might try this (can't hurt):
To resolve this problem in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK.
If this does not resolve the problem, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each of the following files (in step 3, replace Urlmon.dll with each of the file names below):
• Shdocvw.dll
• Actxprxy.dll
• Oleaut32.dll
• Mshtml.dll
• Browseui.dll
• Shell32.dll
In light of your last post can you hook up via Ethernet just to see if the wireless connection is an issue?

now firefox cant navigate to ebay..wont even navigate to google homepage...when i just reset modem and router i shut down computer and got a message that a program was not responding but i didnt have any running...the program is called dbnotify.dll ..is that some malicious program? how do i get rid of it if it is? and thank you so much for responding, i really dont know what i'd do without your help...also when i go to send this reply, firefox warns me i'm about to send over an unencrypted connection, but i have wep running on my wireless security..am i unprotected?
-
dbnotify.dll appears to be a legitimate .dll associated with portable (wireless) connections.
You might want to run a search for it on your computer to see who is running it but probably one of your wireless devices.
That Firefox warning is typical of just switching between encrypted/unencrypted connections usually associated with sites or areas of sites where you might use your credit card etc. If you are at an encrypted site or area and you move to an unencrypted you will see that warning. In IE as well.
I am suspecting more and more that your issues are with your connection. Can you wire this laptop to your cable modem just to check it out?
Also: When you: "recently accidentally erased ": Did this have anything to do with your wireless hardware/drivers by any chance?
