I have no problems at all with IE 7 or FireFox 2.
FireFox did ask for a Macromedia Plugin.

Okay, I tested the examples in Safe Mode with Networking, and my system exhibited identical behavior - exactly the same error / no-error results in both Firefox and IE. Where do I go from here?Originally Posted by jephree
Are you and your friend experiencing this issue in IE, as well? I'm experiencing it (identically) in both Firefox and IE, which leads me to believe that the problem lies outside of the browsers and somewhere more central in my system.Originally Posted by Kazna3
Thanks again to both of you for your help - I appreciate it.

Do you have DirectX 9.0c installed?
It would show under start Run... dxdiag
Download here if not:

Okay, I ran the DirectX Diagnostic Tool and it popped up a dialog box with several tabs and buttons. Please advise as to what steps I should now take.
Thanks,
Sam
You'll have to provide us with more information Sam about what the tabs are in the above pop up boxes. Any writing, options etc...
Yes in both, and if they are both running at the same time, then both shutdown with this error regardless of which one loaded the site. Are you and your friend experiencing this issue in IE, as well?
Thanks.
Due to the graphic nature of the sites you were having problems with it lead me to just suspect DirectX.Originally Posted by WebFreedom
On the System tab of dxdiag what is your DirectX version? The latest that I linked to is 9.0c.
The version on my system is 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904). I'm guessing that it updates automatically, because I haven't updated it in recent memory. Please let me know what's next...Originally Posted by jephree
That's very interesting - on my system, only the browser that loads the site shuts down when both are open. Since you're experiencing the same error (albeit with slightly different results), I'm hoping that may lead us to a solution.Originally Posted by Kazna3
By the way, the tabs on the DirectX Diagnostic Tool are:
System / DirectX Files / Display / Sound / Music / Input / Network / More Help
The buttons (on the 'System' tab) are:
Help / Next Page / Save All Information / Exit
Thanks,
Sam

In the tabs you mentioned, did you proceed to "DirectX files" to see in the bottom pane if theyre were any problems?
In the "Display" section you might as well check your "Test Directdraw" and "Test Direct 3D" along with seeing the "Sound" notes section to see if any problems are listed under any.
Thanks.
Hi Kazna3,
I scrolled through all of the tabs on the DirectX Diagnostic Tool, and all show "no problems found". I also ran all of the tests available, and all were successful with the exception of 'Test Direct Play' (Network tab), which hangs the program and causes it to stop responding.
Please advise on next steps...
Thanks,
Sam
Hi All,
In an effort to gather more information on this issue, I made a discovery that may help you diagnose the problem. First, here's one of the errors from my previous post:
-In Firefox, navigate to: http://www.originotions.com/
-Paste 'http://www.laptopinfo.net/component/option,com_rss/feed,RSS2.0/no_html,1/' into 'Enter RSS Feed Source URL' field
-Click on 'Generate Code' button
-On next page, scroll and click on 'Send Me The Code' link
-Firefox.exe errors out
Here's what I've discovered: If I right click on the 'Send Me The Code' link in Firefox, one of the options that pops up is "Copy Link Location" - if I click on this option, and then paste the resulting URL into my browser window and click the 'Go' button, Firefox does not error out. I've confirmed that this works in IE, as well, by clicking the "Copy Shortcut" option and pasting the resulting URL into IE's browser window.
This is obviously a workaround that I can use for sites with links, but it doesn't help me on sites that use buttons, e.g. http://cooltext.com/. It seems that the act of clicking on the link (or button) is what's causing the error, so I'm hoping this may be helpful in determining the cause of this issue.
Please advise with any input or suggestions, and thanks again for your help.
Sam
