I take it you are using www.google.co.uk - I have always had to select the radio button for UK which seems no great hardship.

I also set google.uk in my favourites and still have to check the radio button for the United Kingdom.

I know it's no big thing to have to pick it but I just wondered if there was some means to change it. Presumably not.
