Is IE7 a major need for now?

Do I really need to download IE7 now, and go along with the tide, or wait until the initial rush is past and some bugs are fixed? Yahoo is pushing me to do it, but I like to wait a bit, and let the newbie software problems happen to someone else. Whaddya think?

IE 7 was released in it's final form last week. Of course security updates will be constantly added in the future.

As of November 14 it will be an Automatic (Critical) Update from Windows Update and will become the Microsoft supported browser for XP SP2. Support (updates) for SP1 have already ceased and IE 6 will probably soon follow.

It is an improvement over IE 6 and there is no reason not to install it.

    ---------------
And just to clarify IE 7 at this point requires XP SP2. Future security updates will assume XP SP2 IE 7.

IE 7 is also incorporated into Vista.

ok, its in there. It says to disable spyware and virus ware, but I don't see anything in the software about doing this. Do I just remove it, and reinstall after installing IE7?

Save 20% on AVG Internet Security 2012 Suite!
It is advised during installation to turn off your anti-virus and any running malware programs. You can usually do this by right clicking the icon on the task bar > system tray and choose EXIT. Or you can close from the Task Manager.

It is best to SAVE the download and then go off line. Turn off your anti virus etc. and then run the install from the Saved folder.

After the install you will need to reboot which should turn back on your anti-virus etc.
