Heard Firefox is better but...
I had been reading that Firefox was a better browser to use than Internet Explorer. So, I jumped on the bandwagon and downloaded Firefox at the Mozilla site.
At first, it seemed okay. But, then I closed Firefox and ran some utilities (AdAware and Ccleaner) and did a restart. When I tried to open Firefox again I got the error message "Server not found - my.comcast.net" - I called Comcast and they said they don't have any tech support/knowledge regarding Firefox. All the rep could offer me was some forum entries that seemed to deal with Firefox.
What do you know? And is Firefox better than IE? I am presently using Netscape, which is efficient enough, I guess.
Thank you!
Geni
P.S. Have tried Opera also, but was totally unimpressed! No other browsers left! But I read that IE is supposed to be coming out with a new one soon...?

Please, don't use ie, for your own good. I have been using Opera for some time now, and was happy with it since the start. In my opinion, it IS better than Firefox, having many advantages. I couldn't possibly list them all
Whatever you do though, don't use IE, it is most prone to malicious software.

IE is vulnerable to malicious software because it uses and allows ActiveX scripts - FireFox does not. Since ActiveX is a very common means of delivering malware payloads, the riskier your browsing choices or encounters, the higher is your potential risk while using an ActiveX capable browser.
NOTE: You still require IE for certain things such as 'critical updates' and to use many of the online scanning tools that are available in the fight against malware.

Firefox is not the end-all, be-all of security however. You still have to take steps to protect yourself. What IS very cool about firefox is how customizable it is. It's hard to imagine a browser working more perfectly for my needs than firefox after a couple days worth of use and customization.
