    A couple of searches here:

    http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&l...ports+error+ie

    http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=e...ie&sa=N&tab=wg

    Here is just one quote:
As for keyports, they have to do with your alleged firewall issue... which really is more of a MSN problem.
Here are a few solutions that have worked for others. Try one, then test hotmail. If it worked, then groovy. If not, try the next.

    1) Make sure your system clock is accurate.
(double click on the time on the lower right-hand corner of your taskbar. Once the time box shows up, click the "internet" tab and press the update button)

    2) Do you use proxy settings? Incorrect ones will mess with hotmail. Here's how to remove proxy settings:
    a) Open up Internet explorer
    b) Click the tools menu, then Internet options
    c) Select the connections tab
    d) Click the “LAN Settings” button
    e) Make sure the “Automatically Detect Settings” checkbox is checked
    f) If “Use a proxy server for your LAN …” is checked, uncheck it.
    g) Click OK
    h) try going to hotmail and see if that solved the problem.

    3) Norton Firewall
If you have Norton Firewall installed, make sure the subscription hasn't run out and that it's fully updated. It's been claimed that Norton can mess with key ports...

    4) Try registering softpub.dll
    a) Go to start menu, choose "Run"
    b) type:
    regsvr32 softpub.dll
    c) Hit enter
    d) Try hotmail and see if it works.

    5) *Worst case scenario*... reinstall your network card.
I won't go into that yet. As I said, worst case scnario. We'll only go this way if the others don't help.

    Good luck!
