Why could you not download the SP2?

I am assuming you are doing this on a working computer and not the one that cannot connect?

You can download SP2 (takes over a half hour) then afterwards burn to a CD and then transfer to the problem machine.

I couldn't download because that one says

"This installation package is intended for IT professionals and developers downloading and installing on multiple computers on a network. If you're updating just one computer, please visit Windows Update"

so i click on the windows update link and it updates this computer which is running windows professional (i think) and the other one is windows xp. Not sure if that matters but I can only save to a floppy as this laptop does not have a burner. I tried but not exactly sure how to get it to save on the disk, cause it automaticaly detects it to the computer that you are using.

Maybe I need retry tomorrow with a fresh brain. Been sitting here for a couple of hours already.

i tried downloading the SP2 for multiple computers though thats the only one that I could save to a disk. But unfortunetly the floppy doesn't have enough space. I guess I will try and see if a friend can burn it for me.

Yes you need a CD. You can order one from MS for shipping costs:

Order Windows XP Service Pack 2 on CD

Or you might ask your friends if anyone has a copy or as you say have a friend download and burn it for you.

The version I linked to is the version that exists outside of Windows Update.

There is no other difference although it was tailored for managers to install on multiple machines.
